I’m Julie Dawson, a visual designer working on completing my Google User Experience Designer Certificate. My friends and family would describe me as outgoing, motivated, kind, caring, fiercely determined, someone they can count on in both times of happiness and times of need. I believe in using the power of technology to solve problems and create more inclusive designs. I currently live in Northern Kentucky in the Wallace Woods area of Covington. It’s about 2 miles from the Ohio River and Cincinnati, Ohio.
I discovered user experience and user interface design in 2014 while finishing my degree at Savannah College of Art & Design. I took a User Interface Design course and loved it. I find it incredibly frustrating when a product or website does not function properly. I realized being a part of creating a user-friendly experience is what I wanted to do. It was disappointing that it was the only course of its kind at SCAD at the time. Of course, they added User Experience and User Interface design as a major the following quarter after I graduated in 2015. Oh, and this little guy is my grand-dog, Steve French.
